Ady Garner SenseHub Dairy Automation

Meet Adrian ‘Ady’ Garner – SenseHub® Dairy Automation Specialist, based in Timaru in the South Island.

If you’ve ever met Ady on farm or been lucky enough to receive technical support over the phone, you may have picked up on his distinctive accent. Ady is a born and bred Brit and lived rurally in Chippenham, England. From age 11, Ady worked on a nearby dairy farm miking a herd of about 50 cows. After a few years milking, Ady decided it was time to broaden his knowledge of the agri sector and enrolled in Agricultural College.

In 2012, he was offered a job within the New Zealand dairy sector, to relocate and support its emerging robotics industry. Since moving to Aotearoa with his wife, they have built a life in Timaru and welcomed three wonderful daughters into their lives.

Ady and his family are kept very busy with their lifestyle block. The current tally of livestock stands at 13 sheep, 4 beef cows, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 horse and some chickens. Outside of work, Ady and his wife prioritise supporting their daughters’ sporting activities and competitions and can be found pool side supporting swimming competitions and court side supporting basketball games.  Visiting their eldest daughter who is studying in Wellington is also a frequent and much-loved weekend activity. As a family they enjoy getting their boat to the lakes near Fairlie and taking the biscuit out for a spin.

Ady joined the MSD Animal Health team back in 2019 and has been part of the aftersales team supporting our monitoring and automation farmers and our dealer network with technical installations and training. Starting off as the South Island Technical Manager, he helped the team to grow, whilst providing excellent service to the quickly expanding customer base.

More recently, Ady has moved into a new role, with a focus on SenseHub Dairy Automation solutions, which include milk sensors, drafting gates, pulsation, milking control, ID and feed. This is a great fit for him and utilizes his vast knowledge and experience he has gathered over the years.  Ady has had a key role in the development and delivery of SenseHub MilkPlus and SCC Sensor projects and continues to support our Authorised Dealer network.
No two days are the same for Ady. Some days he joins the SenseHub Dairy Sales Team on farm, others he has his toolbox out, installing new hardware into dairy sheds. Ady often sees the process right through- from quoting to commissioning. Recently, he has installed milking automation, in-shed feeding, and Bail-ID into rotary sheds in Canterbury.

Ady has a passion for helping farmers and finding ways to have a positive impact in the day-to-day running of farming operations. His favourite part of the job is getting out on farm and helping farmers make the most of their investment. The problem-solving side of his job brings Ady satisfaction, particularly when he cracks a complex technical case.

We’re sure many of our farmers have had the pleasure of speaking with Ady over the past 5 or so years and can agree he is a real asset to have part of our aftersales team.
